Hospital Announces Scholarship Winners
Athol Memorial Hospital awarded seven scholarships at the end of the
academic year to area students who are pursuing healthcare related
fields. Alyssa Cass of Athol, Allison Dinsmore of Templeton,
Christopher Goody of Orange, Jillian Hall of Orange, Nichole LeBlanc of
Petersham, Melissa Newton of Athol, and Elizabeth Powling of Orange
will each receive one thousand dollars ($1,000) toward their
educational expenses. Fields of study to be pursued by this
year’s recipients include pre-medical biology, speech pathology,
pharmacy, and nursing.
The purpose of the Athol Memorial Hospital Scholarship Program is to
encourage area residents to enter and train in healthcare fields.
Scholarships are awarded on a combination of academic achievement,
extracurricular and community activities, references and essays.
Recipients are invited to reapply for each year of study.
“This year we were able to significantly increase the scholarship amount," commented Jim Meehan, Athol Memorial
Hospital’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “We are
committed to cultivating an interest in healthcare and hope that these
students will consider working at our hospital when their education is
complete.” Last year six five-hundred dollar ($500)
scholarships were awarded. Funding for the scholarships is made
possible through Athol Memorial Hospital’s
“corporator” dues.
