Hospital Awards
Scholarships: Athol
Memorial Hospital recently awarded
scholarships to area students who
are pursuing fields of study in
clinical healthcare careers. Four
recipients, Kerry Chenausky, Jaime
Curtis, Melissa Newton and Sarah
Robichaud, all Athol residents, are
members of Athol High School’s 2006
graduating class. The other two
recipients, Kaitlyn Lemoine of
Orange, is a 2003 graduate of Saint
Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg
and Charlene Softic of Athol, is a
1992 graduate of Athol High School.
Kaitlyn Lemoine will continue
nursing studies at Fitchburg State
College; Melissa Newton and Sarah
Robichaud will begin nursing studies
at Endicott College in Beverly and
Salem State College, respectively;
and Charlene Softic will continue
nursing studies at Mount Wachusett
Community College. Kerry Chenausky
will attend Simmons College in
Boston, in preparation for medical
studies, and Jaime Curtis will
pursue degrees in Athletic Training
and Physical Therapy at the
University of New England in
Biddeford, Maine. Each of the
students will receive $500 toward
their educational expenses.
The purpose of the Athol Memorial
Hospital Scholarship Program is to
encourage area residents to enter
and train in the clinical healthcare
fields. Scholarships are available
to residents of the hospital’s
service area and are awarded on a
combination of academic achievement,
extracurricular and community
activities, references and essays.
“We wish all the recipients well in
achieving their medical goals”
stated Jim Meehan, the Hospital’s
Chairman of the Board of Trustees,
“and hope they will consider
returning to Athol Memorial Hospital
in their future plans.”
