Hospital Awards Scholarships
Athol
Memorial Hospital recently awarded
fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000)
in scholarships to local area
students pursuing healthcare
careers. Each of the fifteen
recipients will receive one thousand
dollars ($1,000) toward their
expenses for the upcoming academic
year.

The hospital initiated the
Healthcare Career Scholarship
Program in 2006 to encourage local
area students to enter the
healthcare field. Applicants must be
residents of the hospital service
area and entering, or matriculating
toward, a degree in a healthcare
related field. Recipients were
chosen based on academic excellence,
community service, and experience in
healthcare related activities.
This year’s winners are Jennifer
Bacigalupo, Alyssa Cass, Bryce Cass,
Caitlin Cotter, Laura Godin, Jeffery
Kuniholm, Melissa Newton, Sara
Newton, Sara Robichaud, and Jordyn
Thiem, all of Athol, MA; Nichole
LeBlanc of Petersham, MA; Shannah
Lively of Royalston, MA; Matthew
Spear of New Salem, MA; and Keagan
Wells and Alyssa Wilson of Orange,
MA.
“This year’s choice was very
difficult,” explained James Meehan,
Athol Memorial Hospital’s Chairman
of the Board and head of the
Scholarship Selection Committee. “We
had so many deserving and
outstanding individuals apply.”
